Thanks to the Floyd Memorial Foundation, CASI is pleased to announce the addition of a “Family Room” to our Jeffersonville building. The purpose of the newly renovated room is to provide a dedicated space to support parents and caregivers. Whether it’s to change a diaper, settle a child, or for breastfeeding mothers to pump.
The CASI Facilities Team was put to the test with this project, renovating an old janitorial room, to this new inviting space featuring a changing table, glider chair, carpet, and sink. New lighting was added to make the space more welcoming and resources will be posted to support parents and caregivers.
The Floyd Memorial Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization founded in 1978 by Floyd County community leaders to support and longevity of Baptist Health Floyd. The mission of the Floyd Memorial Foundation is to provide philanthropic support to Baptist Health Floyd and Southern Indiana healthcare initiatives that enhance the quality of care provided to our community.
The addition of the Family Room directly aligns with the goals of the Floyd Memorial Foundation and CASI, by providing flexible support to families in all stages of their lives together. As an example, providing a welcoming and comfortable lactation space, can encourage new mothers to breastfeed for longer into their postpartum journey. According to an article by Front Public Health,
“From the women’s experiences and perceptions, we identified that breastfeeding support rooms contribute to prolonged breastfeeding, improve physical and emotional well-being, allow women to exercise their professional activities comfortably, and contribute to women’s professional appreciation for the excellent relationship between employees and employers.”
The addition of a family focused space also hopes to reduce barriers for families seeking services. A quiet place to settle a child can be the difference between someone coming in and getting all of the services they need, versus leaving early out of frustration.
The Family Room is available to all visitors and staff, Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 4:30pm.
